Grizedale in dark brown rough-out suede features our cleated rubber sole, antique brass eyelets and a heavier than usual lace, there is also a hidden secret beneath... A half bellows tongue, made from contrasting grain calf, ensures no water penetrates the lace area, whilst stomping through wet grass or shallow streams (as demonstrated in our seasonal film). Half leather lining with a waterproof membrane interlining, rounds off our toughest ever, breathable yet sturdy, Rough-Out Suede boot.
Rough-out suede is a material that ‘roughs-up’ during wear. Over time, it takes on a rugged, worn aesthetic which makes it our most casual material in the collection. If left uncared for, you will find it lightens and continues to become rougher in look and feel. However, rough-out suede very much benefits from an annual covering in dubbin to uphold its water resistance. An application of dubbin will also darken down the leather, and reduce its rough appearance bringing back some ‘newness’.
When ordered online, all rough-out suede shoes/boots are pre-treated before they are shipped. If in store, you can also speak to our staff about caring for rough-out suede.
